Usually hair loss is hereditary, and although there are shampoos like Rogaine out there, they don't work on everyone. She might want to consider seeing a doctor - they can advise her as to what has the least number of risks/highest success rate. She should make sure that she is getting all the vitamins she needs, and I've heard that massaging the scalp helps open up the folicles for hair to grow back. Also, many older women will opt for getting a perm to make their hair look thicker - and dying it light in colour will help.Older women advice?
l would recommend her going to see a specailst, and if she dyes her hair alot that might be a high factor why she is losing her hair.hope everything works out for your aunt.
there is rogaine now out for women she should try it
It could be menopause. When women's estrogen levels decrease, then that can sometimes result in thinning hair.

I've never heard of herbal stuff that actually worked.

Sometimes, getting off estrogen based birth control pills will cause hair loss in the same way that women often lose hair after giving birth.

She should really be examined by a doctor to find out what the cause is for the hairloss.

At her age, I'm not sure whether this is even a viable solution, but there is a birth control pill on the market in Europe (has been for 30 years) which has a side effect of growing hair. It's called Diane 35. If you are in the US, you can't get it and it's prescription only. She'd have to go to be examined there.
She can get Rogaine, from a Dr. or, go on line, %26amp; they'll have different things on there, to help her. Just type in,hair loss %26amp; remedies. I hope this helps you out.
You didn鈥檛 say why is it cancer or hormonal or inheritory?

If cancer after treatment it鈥檒l grow back ask doctor for wig and hat info

Hormones this to can pass ask doctor to help her to understand what she is lacking and seek treatment

Inherited hair losses go see a dermatologist and they should be able to advise you as the best way to help her.
